Berva Arensdorf - Career Specialist

Berva came to Center for Enterprise with a background in volunteerism, community economic development, and youth programs. Berva has a Bachelor's Degree in Human and Social Services Administration and is a Certified Career Development Facilitator. Her previous employment as a School-to-Work program administrator, coupled with experiences at Mid-Plains Community College Career Services, enhance her belief in individualized career planning and personal development. Berva is an approved administrator for a number of professional and certification testing companies and serves as the ACT Testing Center coordinator.

Bruce Dowse - Outreach and Training

Bruce received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and his Master's from Chadron State College. He has worked in the education and training field for 38 years. His expertise is in developing and delivering training for all types of business and industry. He currently coordinates the extensive training provided by the college for Union Pacific Railroad.

William "Bill" Eakins - Career Services

Bill earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He also received an Endorsement in Special Vocational Needs from UNK. He spent 15 years in Public School Education and has been employed with Mid-Plains Community College for 23 years. Bill is a Certified ACT WorkKeys Job Profiler and holds an NDE Certification. He has been the ACT Service Center Administrator since 1996 and was named Nebraska Community College Association's Administrator of the Year in 2003.

Melissa Garcia - Area Account Manager

As an Account Manager for Mid-Plains Community College's Center for Enterprise, her main focus is as a community and business liaison. Her efforts involve providing and supporting community growth by offering training, support services and resource partnerships for businesses and economic development groups in their 18 county area. In the process of growing this program she displayed the ability to develop creative solutions and ask the question, "Why not now?" Along with a bachelor's degree in marketing, she also has experience in facilitating trainings, event planning and consultative sales.

 

Judy Malone - Program Coordinator and Professional Trainer

Judy is a fourth generation southwest Nebraskan, having grown up on a small farm in a nearby community. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney (Kearney State College) with a Bachelor of Science in business education and home economics, teaching in the area for over 20 years. She earned a Master's of Science in Interdepartmental Human Resources and Family Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as part of the first Nebraska cohort to receive a Master's Degree via distance learning. As an adjunct instructor since 1999, she instructs Family and Consumer Science courses in food preparation and nutrition at McCook Community College. In addition to classroom instruction, she joined Business and Community Education in 2004 and now serves as a and Program Coordinator Professional Trainer for the Center for Enterprise. As a certified classroom trainer she has assisted with Workforce Development Grants and helped develop curriculum, implement programming and facilitate customized training for area businesses

Denise Poss - Communications Specialist

Denise has worked at Mid-Plains Community College for more than five years and joined the Center for Enterprise Team in 2007 to help publicize the customized training opportunities and exponential value it is bringing to the areas it serves. She currently writes the copy for approximately 95 percent of the press releases sent to the media from the college, as well as taking part in many of MPCC's advertising and marketing projects. Her career in journalism has included working as the Health and Education Reporter at the North Platte Telegraph and as the Managing Editor for the North Platte Traveler magazine.

 

Lena Koebel - Area Account Manager

Lena graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Her extensive sales experience came from 8 years in retail management working for Von Maur and Banana Republic. After several years of traveling Lena and her husband were able to return to their roots in Southwest Nebraska. Lena joined Mid-Plains Community College as an Area Account Manager in November 2010.

Nicole Hampton - Area Program Manager

Born and raised in North Platte, Nicole has had the opportunity to see the community and surrounding areas change and advance. Nicole's professional background includes working in the non-profit realm and human services specializing in job training and youth programs. With her Associate of Science degree from North Platte Community College, Nicole understands the value and training experiences the community college institution can facilitate within rural Nebraska. Nicole has been with Mid-Plains Community College since 2008.
