NPCC hosts ‘E-Day’ for area high school students


Marcus Garstecki, Area Dean of Enrollment Management, welcomes students to the 2010 “Entrepreneurship Day” Wednesday at North Platte Community College. Sixty-five students from ten area high schools attended the event.

The Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise combined forces with the business department at North Platte Community College to host the 2010 “E-Day” for area high school students Wednesday at the college. Volunteers from the NPCC and McCook Community College chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, the student business organization, helped with the event.

E-Day, or Entrepreneurship Day, was designed to help students develop the critical entrepreneurship skills necessary to survive and succeed in today’s business world. Sixty-five students from ten area high schools attended the event.

Digital Camera Basics

“Digital Camera Basics” will be held Wednesdays, February 17 – March 3 from 7 – 9 pm with Tor Olson as the instructor. Understand the basics of how to use your digital camera, or learn what to look for when buying a new one.  This class is recommended as a lead in for the upcoming Advanced Digital SLR Camera class.


Registration and payment is required a minimum of three days in advance of the class date. Registered “no shows/no pays” will be billed the amount of the registration fee.

Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise Partners with Career Step to Help Students Train for Careers in Growing Healthcare Industry

The Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise has partnered with Career Step, a leading healthcare education company, to offer training to individuals interested in pursuing careers in medical transcription and medical coding and billing.

The new programs will expand Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise’s online learning opportunities. People who enroll in these online courses will have the flexibility to train entirely on their own schedules, increasing the career training options of many, especially non-traditional, students.

For a limited time, each person who enrolls in the program will receive a free laptop computer.

“We’re excited about the career training opportunities our partnership will bring to the students of Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise,” said Career Step’s Vice President of Academic Partners, Justin Pettit. “Through our partnership with Mid-Plains, students will gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the growing fields of medical transcription and medical coding and billing.”

The Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise will hold informational sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in room 102 of North Platte Community College’s North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive in North Platte.

These sessions will provide more information for those interested in learning about the free laptop promotion, the advantages of training through Mid-Plains Center for Enterprise’s Career Step offerings and the attractive career opportunities in the fields of medical transcription and medical coding and billing.
